Calling all international students

Do you have a special interest, skills, or knowledge that you can share with others? We are looking to partner with international students to run workshops or short courses to benefit the local community.  Maybe you know a lot about your home country, its history and culture, and would like to share your knowledge with others. Maybe you have a special interest that people would find fascinating and would love to learn about. Or maybe you have a skill such as cooking, arts, craft, or using technology which you can teach others. Whatever it is, we would like to partner with you to provide more options for the local community!

To engage international students in delivering special interest workshops and activities to the local community through Dixon House Neighbourhood Centre. This will provide the local community with more diverse activity options, and valuable local experience for international students.

Dixon House is a neighbourhood centre located in Clayton, Victoria. We offer a range of low cost and free educational, social, recreational, and welfare programs to the local community. People of all ages and backgrounds attend and participate at Dixon House.

• To help international students connect to the local community, increase familiarity with Australian culture and systems, gain valuable life experience and skills, and improve future employability.
• To present the local community with more diverse educational, social, and recreational opportunities, and to increase exposure to different cultures.

OBJECTIVES

• Promote project to Monash University international students
• Recruit interested candidates into the project
• Plan and develop programs with recruits
• Promote the program to the public and enroll participants
• Support recruits in delivering the program
• Undertake review and evaluation of the program

TIMEFRAME

• Dixon House will be running this project from July 2020 to June 2023.
• Recruits can run their programs as either once-off sessions, to multiple sessions over one term, or several terms.

LOCATION

• Programs typically run from Dixon House located in Clayton.
• NOTE: Due to the Covid-19 lockdown, we will be offering the programs through an online model until our neighbourhood centre can return to normal operations.
